Colour Tools and Products

The seven colours of the spectrum originate from light, when we think of light we often perceive it as colourless. In 1672 Isaac Newton demonstrated that light is made up from the seven coloured rays when he passed a beam of sunlight through a prism. This displayed the emerging bands of colour onto a white screen, a natural example of this is the rainbow.

We receive colour through our eyes & if we go blind the body adapts and receives the colour rays through the skin only. The sensors known as rods are sensitive to low levels of light, while those known as cones require a greater intensity of light. Cones are sensitive to colour they create a much sharper image than rods. The area in the centre of the eye has the highest percentage of cones and these produce sharp images, whilst the rest of the retina contains mainly rods. The retina, optic nerve and brain forms a whole system called the eye brain.

Imagine that you are looking at a coloured blue beach ball; the 'invisible' full spectrum light shines on the ball. The surface of the blue ball absorbs the full spectrum rays, except those corresponding to blue. The colour blue is then reflected to the human eye & a message is sent to the brain.

Magnetic colours - Red Orange and Yellow - the hot to warm colours

Electrical colours - Blue Indigo and Violet - the cool colours

Green is neither warm nor cool - it is the balancer, the harmoniser

Magnetic Colours:

Red is the hottest of the colours followed by warm orange and then yellow. We need these colours to ground, earth and anchor us. They also activate, energise and arouse, getting us moving and putting into action.

Green the balancer, regulator and harmoniser, green sits between the magnetic and electrical colours and is neutral, it is neither warm nor cool.

Electrical Colours:

Blue, Indigo and Violet These three colours represent the cool end of the spectrum with violet being the coolest of the three, they are calming, sedating, purifying, clearing and releasing.

Colour therapy uses the spectrum colours to help re-balance
& energise the body on all levels; physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. A professional colour practitioner may use a variety of different colour techniques & applications to help bring the client back into a state of balance & harmony.

These include; 100% pure silk in the highest quality in the chakra colours to cover the body, crystals, aromatherapy oils, colour solarised water, full spectrum lights, visualisation and art therapy.

Colour therapy is a complementary therapy that can be used alongside conventional medicine. It can be combined with other complementary therapies but it is also a powerful healing and transformational therapy in its own right.

Art Therapy - the use of colour through art is therapeutic; art therapy is widely used as part of a colour therapy treatment, it is a powerful tool of self discovery & empowerment, it supports the client in expressing their inner most thoughts & feelings from their subconcious via pictures particularly useful when clients are unable to express themselves verbally or are not aware of the problem. In colour therapy a specific type of art therapy that has been developed within the profession of colour therapy is offered to clients.

Colour breathing  has been documented for centuries and is a very simple technique to use. You do not need any special equipment other than a set of coloured pencils, pastels or crayons and white paper.

You can help yourself to visualise colour by focusing on the seven colours of the spectrum on paper. Use coloured pencils in red, orange, yellow, green, sky blue, indigo, and violet. For the best healing results use pure colours, do not combine with any other colour. Just as easy to create yourself or alternatively we have created the beautiful Colour Breathing Naturally set for you to use at home for yourself and your loved ones and for the trained colour therapist to use with clients. A wonderful tool for colour healing, stress management and relaxation.

Create the seven circles of colour on white paper before you start the breathing exercise.

Focus on the seven colours one by one beginning with red; spend a few moments on each colour breathing the colour deeply into your being. Imagine the colour is filling up your entire body, when you have achieved this go onto the next colour. The correct order when using this very simple and age old technique is red, orange, yellow, green. sky blue, indigo, violet.

Colour in the home - It is a fact that colour affects our moods, we have some understanding (if only subconciously) of the subtle influence of the colours that surround us. What we may not fully appreciate is the impact of colour within our environment. We all use colour in the home for decoration on the walls and soft furnishings, often choosing the the decor & visual effect. A specialist consultant will choose specific shades and colour combinations required. The correct and careful use of colour can create a healthy, nurturing and supporting space for all the family; a sanctuary to meet the needs of all who live there.
