Colourinternational.com members practising colour therapy are expected to follow the Colourinternational.com code of practice and ethics. This code has been designed to ensure the professionalism and integrity of colour therapy and intends to protect both the public and practitioner

  1. The practitioner will only practice those therapies for which she/he is fully qualified to do so
  2. The practitioner must hold valid insurance against public liability and malpractice covering those therapies practised
  3. The practitioner should recognise the limits of their professional competence and refer on where appropriate
  4. No medical diagnosis or claim to cure shall be made
  5. Treatments will only be given on request; fully explained at the outset and fees discussed prior to commencement
  6. No minor shall be treated without a parent or guardian being present
  7. Clients shall be treated with respect, care and consideration, taking into account their unique individuality and beliefs
  8. Written records of client contact, including personal details, medical history, presenting conditions and treatments received shall be recorded by the practitioner and stored securely in line with patient confidentiality
  9. Patient confidentiality to be respected at all times unless disclosure is required by law. Student case study work, inter-practitioner discussions, research findings should be discussed anonymously
  10. If a client presents with any new or undiagnosed medical condition, the practitioner should advise the client to see their medical practice
  11. The practitioner will never encourage a client to cease prescribed medical treatment or contact with their medical practitioner
  12. The practitioner will comply with local regulations in respect of infectious diseases, initially by contacting their local Health Authority
  13. Issues of health, safety and hygiene to be paramount to the practitioner, both in their personal demeanour and workplace
  14. No practitioner shall seek to gain business, or advertise their therapy in a way that discredits other practitioners, colour therapy itself, Colourinternational.com or the medical profession
